Ketedasan terjemahan ayat-ayat imperatif tidak terlepas dari teknik dan prosedur penerjemahan yang diterapkan dalam menangani unit-unit mikro terjemahan. Sampel penelitian dipilih secara purposif berupa ayat-ayat imperatif yang memiliki makna pragmatik tertentu. Penelitian ini, yang menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif-evaluatif dengan desain studi kasus terpancang, bertujuan untuk mengungkap ketedasan terjemahan ayat-ayat imperatif yang bernuansa budaya. Dalam penerjemahan, menghadirkan ketedasan terjemahan tuturan yang bernuansa budaya, termasuk dalam ayat-ayat imperatif, seringkali menjadi kendala tersendiri. Setiap bahasa mempunyai keunikan tersendiri berkat keberadaan konsep-konsep budaya yang ada di dalamnya. Couplet procedure that combines literal and amplification techniques may fulfill clarity aspect in translation. The clarity of the translation of the imperative verses relies on the techniques and procedures of translation applied in dealing with micro-translation units. Samples were selected purposively regarding imperative verses that have specific pragmatic meanings. The study, which used a qualitative-evaluative approach with the design of embedded case study research, aims to reveal the clarity of the translation of imperative verses that have cultural nuance meanings. To bring clarity to the translation of the nuanced cultural speech, including those contained in the imperative verses, often becomes an obstacle in translation. P>Each language has its own uniqueness because of the existence of cultural concepts that exist in it. This makes for a rather complex domestication/foreignization dynamic and can be connected to a point that Venuti makes, that foreignization can also be effected by drawing on ‘marginal’, ‘non-standard’ and ‘heterogeneous’ discourse in the target language. However, instead of making use of standard ‘literary’ English, the British translation also activates a non-dominant, lower status, ‘marginal discourse’ as some of the speech patterns used by the translator can be associated with a particular social demographic, that is, the lower middle class and working class. The translator achieved this by culturally assimilating protagonists’ names and using a broad spectrum of lexical items typical of vibrant and colloquial British English. The chapter demonstrates that the translator culturally assimilated, or, using Venutian terms, domesticated Korczak’s classic tale, adapting it, linguistically and culturally, to suit the target-culture context. The chapter concentrates on Król Maciuś Pierwszy (1922), a classic children’s book by Polish-Jewish author and pedagogue Janusz Korczak, and its British and American translations, with a special focus on the translation by Adam Czasak published in London in 1990. El modelo de funcionalismo aplicado a la traducción literaria que presenta Nord (1997) nos servirá de marco teórico. A partir de ahí extraeré algunas conclusiones sobre las estrategias utilizadas por los diferentes traductores en las diferentes lenguas. En segundo lugar, exten-deré el análisis comparativo en las seis lenguas con el texto original a la traducción de nom-bres de lugares, y en tercer lugar, compararé la traducción de nombres de determinados obje-tos y cosas que poseen un tono humorístico.
Para ello, en primer lugar, llevaré a cabo un análisis comparativo de la tra-ducción de nombres propios y construcciones léxicas utilizadas para designar a algunos de esos personajes llenos de humor y magia creados por J.K. En las páginas que siguen es mi intención servirme de la comparación del texto inglés y las traducciones a seis lenguas diferentes -español, cata-lán, portugués, italiano, francés y alemán- para explorar la transferencia del humor a través de lenguas y culturas. Resumen: El éxito reciente de la serie de Harry Potter (HP) con más de110 millones de libros impresos, publicado en 200 países y 47 lenguas en menos de cinco años, y ya llevado al cine, convierte a la serie en un objeto inexcusable de estudio.
These choices include: names of people, places, and things as well as lexical constructions used to describe the characters. Taking into account the space available, I will concentrate on certain humorous lexical and stylistic choices of the translators in six different languages: Spanish, Catalan, Portuguese, Italian, German, and French. I will approach the problem of translating humour in cross-cultural communication by examining language specifics in the HP series. Written originally in English, the first four Harry Potter (HP) books have been widely translated into different languages by a number of translators. I will take as a case in point the well-known Harry Potter children’s books by J.K.
